Default Macro or close up

I'm not a professional in photography at all. I'm a gemmologist. I need to take pictures of gems for printing.
Now I'm using Sony cyber shot DCH 10. Pictures fairly good. For yellow and light colours not very good.
What camera would very good for this perporse? I saw some pictures under
Macro photography on this site. They are amazing

I need some advice from professionals here
about what camera should I buy

I saw Dubai duty free two days back a Canon EOS 1100D. The guy there demonstrated me taking pictures under macro. It was very good. Almost I went to buy that. Price almost US$ 850.00 Then I said I will back two days time my way back to Sri Lanka so I'll buy then.
After that I checked the price in out side airport
It is only US$ 650.00
Please advice what to do!
So I'm confused now.

Not knowing the prices in your area of the world, I can only speak for here in the United States. The 1100D (Canon T3 with the "kit" lens) runs US$ 600 from REPUTABLE dealers like Adorama or B&H and even Amazon. To me, the Dubai duty free price is airport-shop-inflated and far too high. Often, but not always, when I have traveled I have found duty-free-shop prices higher than elsewhere.

Is the non-airport-store an AUTHORIZED Canon dealer? If so, then US$ 650 is not too bad.
