Default refurbished canon? whats right for me?

ok i am a camera moron so please excuse my ignorance in advance...i have $500 at most to spend....the main purpose of the camera will be to photograph handmade items (cloth diapers, baby blankets, etc...) to put on my website. i need it to accurately capture colors, and take up close detailed photos. those are the 2 things i think are most important for what i'll be using it for. i was looking at this http://shop.usa.canon.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_10051_10051_222026_-1 refurbished canon rebel. is it a good idea to buy a refurbished one. i think i read that canon has better benefits than other brands as far as refurbishing...90 day warranty etc...

Have you considered a Canon S95, Olympus XZ-1, or Panasonic LX5? Of the 3, the LX5 has the best macro mode. The dSLR seems like overkill for your needs.
