Default what do you recommend....

My wife needs a digital camera that has excellent quality for 11x14 enlargements,
the panorama feature, and a decent wide angle lens. Is there such a camera in the under $400 range? I could talk her into up to $500 if we have to....thanks

G'day GS

There are many choices to consider - I like Panasonic Lumix cameras
There are several in their range that could easily do what you describe

You/she can choose from several slip-in-the-pocket, auto + semi-auto models with zoom lenses of either 5x or 10x zoom, prices from $200 to $350, OR she can look at a larger, more professional camera like the FZ40 / FZ100 [very similar but a few differences] which are very popular cameras. Panny has just introduced a new model, so the FZ40/100s will now be on the price slide & it is a good time to buy one - if it suits her.

Ergonomics becomes very important with any camera purchase - is it too big/too small, is it too heavy, do you want an eye piece?, do you want to learn camera controls [later anyway, as auto is pretty good these days] and so on ....... !

Hope this helps a bit
Regards, Phil
