Default 50% Unposed street photography + 20% Lowlight social, inc. vid + 30% general

Preferred usage

50% Unposed street photography
Currently using iphone, and feel like a wierdo when I pull it out and struggle with its shitty operation and then put it in someone's face (hence lots of boring buildings)
Using it for:
  • Unposed street photography ( shooting from chest with quiet operation)
  • Occasionally asking people for their photo
  • Y'know like this: http://vivianmaier.blogspot.com/

20% Low light social situations
Would love to document pubs, clubs music festivals etc with high quality photo & video (while drunk)

30% general
The normal things: happy snaps, occasional edited video for facebook/youtube, day trips etc

Other stuff
  • Currently own z800 fujifilm EXR (sits unused in drawer)
  • Previously owned canon IXUS 800IS, IXUS 80IS, some 2007 era panasonic superzoom P&S
  • Never owned SLR's - if I can't be bothered taking it with me everyday, I don't want it.
  • I'm very wary of P&S zooms: 4x never seemed enough. 10x+ P&S I found very hard to maintain IQ.

I've used whatever I had at hand. Usually a sony H1, H50, Kodak Z981. You may not find one that does everything. Usually, I pick the one or two things I do the most, macro and close up, unposed people when I do them at all, buildings, abstracts. And, whatever suits me fancy.
I like Maiers work, I like to do the same. I use a table to rest camera on, continue talking to someone on phone, or pretend to, and shoot away. As long as the camera is not held up high, like to eye level, people do not think anything of it.

Fuji X100 obviously!

I saw the recent Vivien Maier exhibition in London. An extra-ordinarily talented and angry woman.
