I'm looking for a camera to bring on a vacation to record movies. 720p is great, 1080p is even better. I'm completely out of the loop as far as pricing and features so I'm not sure what to expect. I don't have a huge budget though and I don't need a lot of features. Thanks!

pretty much all new cameras shoot video. you don't mention whether you have a preference for more or less zoom, but the canon A4000 has 8x zoom, shoots 720 videos and is only $150. some of the posters at dpreview speak highly of the canon elph 110, which has 5x zoom and shoots full 1080, and costs around $200.
for just a few bucks more, the canon SX230HS offers 14x zoom, 1080 videos, and while it is more jacket pocket sized rather than pants pocket sized, i can personally recommend this one. i used one as a walkabout camera for months last year, and regretted selling it. |
