Default Which camera for 6500 Rupees

I am looking orward to buy a simple and basic point and shoot camera with following requirements:

  • 5 MP is fine. I am more interested in picture quality than 10,12 or 16 MPs and 10x or 15x zooms
  • Video recording with Pause/Resume feature (I see most low end P&S do not have it)
  • 720p HD recording
  • will watch photos on computer
  • A4 size print outs (if ever, else half of A4 will be usually what I need). This must be quality.
  • can fit in my jeans pocket
  • budget 6.5K Indian Rupees
  • must not be laggy
  • Camera must not have any hardware defects or major software bugs.
  • Still picture is of primary interest than video recording
well that's it. I can get anything available at www.flipkart.com or www.junglee.com (amazon India).

I have a question, does 720p mean video will look like 720p ripped HD/Blu-Ray movie I watch on computer ?

Actually, I just want to watch the recorded video on computer, nothing more. On my computer, a 90 minutes long, 640x272 DVDrip movie with 900 kbps bitrate and 23.9 fps looks really great. I have 23" LCD monitor with 1680x1050 resolution.

G'day Arnuld

Firstly - Welcome to Steves ... glad to hear of your fun with photography

You ask for a camera to cost you about 6500 rupees ... this is about 125 US dollars

You mention "5mp" > this suggests a camera made around 5yrs ago. If you want such a camera, chase up / google for 'second-hand-cameras' and see what you find

However, I feel that for this $ whatever brand-new camera you locate will not have many of the features you ask for

I would suggest you look at 'dpreview.com' for a camera type that satisfies your requirements and then go chasing from there

Regards, Phil
