Default Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS40 vs ZS 50

I have been an advocate of Steve's Reviews since 2002, and have come to rely on his comments being accurate and complete.

I want to add a high quality, long zoom , travel camera to my collection, with extensive manual capabilities and with a rangefinder viewer as well as a 3" LCD screen. The Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS40 and ZS50 seem to meet my requirements. However, I need to determine which of the two, ZS40 vs ZS50, offers the most advantage for me.

Anyone have personal review info on either or both of the subject cameras?

The main difference between the two, is that the ZS50 has a higher resolution EVF and less noise in higher iso, due to the lower pixel count on the sensor.
I have the ZS30 wich I find a capable camera. So it's successors will be at least as good I think.
