I am looking for a cheap video came i can use to record football games and other sporting events. I am sick of using my cell phone for this.

One limitation you'll bump into with recoding videos with a P&S still camera is that the longest video they can record is just short of 30minutes long. The EU has a significant tariff on imported video cameras, which they define as being able to record continuous video for 30 minutes or more, so the manufacturers artificially limit their still image cameras to just a hair short of that. So after 29 minutes and 55 seconds, the camera will automatically stop recording. You need to notice it and press the record button again.

What budget did you have in mind? Has it to be pocketable?
A good choice might be the Panasonic FZ200.
