Default Lumix 1000

Hello good people, has any out there ever owned the Lumix DMC fz1000? Was hoping to get somebody's opinion that has had their hands on one. I almost bought the 300 but think having the larger MOS sensor the fz 1000 has, would be worth the extra dollars?

I have the FZ1000 and it's an excellent and versatile bridge camera. The larger sensor allows pics with less noise, in low light, than the FZ300.

i rented the FZ1000, and it's a great camera - fast focusing, decent low light performance, catches good detail, good bokeh, really good pics in good light and enough reach to catch most shots. here are a couple out-of-the-camera jpgs from my rental FZ1000 -

lots of nice blur, but look at the ankles and claws

i'd have bought one, but i needed more reach to shoot distant birds. to tell the truth, there's a good chance i'll be one at some point anyway - it's a very satisfying camera to use.

G'day MD

You are asking 2 questions in both your intro post & this post ... good for you

I am an old SLR user who now loves the superzoom style of camera for its versatility over the SLRs exchange of lenses [although both have their +s & -s as well]

I have used Panny superzooms + Leica lenses for over 10 yrs now, and for a while, a Pentax with Sigma lenses. Without doubt, the Leica lenses on the Panny super zooms gave better sharpness than the Sigma lenses on the Pentax

If you get yourself a Fz1000 I think that you will be very pleased with the results

Has Fuji & Lumix superzoom cameras and loves their amazing capabilities
