I am still shopping around for a bargain priced (<$400) digital camera with as many of the following features as possible:

1 - At least a 200mm (35mm equivalent) maximum optical zoom.

2 - Metered manual mode

3 - slow shutter speeds (minimum slow speed 4 sec, 15 to 30 seconds preferred)

4 - External flash capability.

5 - CF, SD or SM media preferred ( would prefer to avoid xD, don't need another card format, but it is not a requirement)

6 - Good image quality, at least up to 8X10

7 - Usable high ISO settings (minimum 400, 800 or higher preferred)

8 - AA battery size preferred but not required.

9 - Easily mounted filter adapter (included or available, I prefer the type which can be mounted to the camera and left there to protect the lens)

10 - A good viewfinder (I realize that EVF is the rule in this camera type so I am looking for one that operates smoothly without freezing and jumping and not working in kow light like some of the worst examples do)

If you can give me information on any camera you think will fit these criteria well, please let me know. Right now the Kodak DX6490 is at the top of the list but I am very open to suggestions. I currently use a Pentax Optio 33L which takes excellent pictures but does not offer the manual control and the "reach" of a longer lens.

If you waited a few months or even until Spring when the prize drops below $ 400, the Konica Minolta DiMage Z3 could be just what you like - look here.
