I am new to photography, and is shopping for buying a digital camera for my specific need. I want to do some macro photography, that will allow me to take close pictures of the items like precious stones, jewelery, flowers, etc. I do not want to print these close-up pictures, but would be posting it on the internet as a small image, and once click it will enlarge (zoom) showing all the details.

Can any one suggest me which digital camera would be best, easy to use, and have a low learning curve. As I said above I am entirely new to photograhy. I am not sure whether this can be achieved using a digital point-and-shoot camera as some camera specification says that the minimum macro focus range is 3 in.

Appreciate early reply...

I own a Canon PowerShot S410 and though you have to get kind of close, it has a wonderful 9 point auto focus that makes macro a breeze.
