Have been using Kodak DC215's but they are getting a little harder to get, even on ebay. I am looking for a camera which has a 35mm equivalent optical zoom of 28mm minimum, probably with 3x optical zoom, without add on converters. The people that I need these for aren't the greatest at caring for them. They must also run on standard batteries (AA).1.3 megapixel is adequet for our needs andhigh priced models are out

Oh dear! I think that you will find that you are in the fertiliser here. I have been researching cameras to replace my Olympus 5060 (stolen)which had 27mm wide angle, and I can't find much at all except that, the 5050 Olympus, and a Nikon 5400 which are in the 5 megapixel range, and much much dearer. I think that your only option is to buy one of the cheaper cameras and a wide angle lens with it, but that might come out at the same! How about making the users responsible - that way they might take care of the thing! Seriously, wide angle is so useful, but in this point and shoot market is as rare as hens teeth. Best of luck though.

You may want to look at Olympus 8080.

Good luck
