I am looking to purchase my first digital camera.

Here is what I plan to use the camera for:

outdoor shots while mountain biking
indoor/outdoor car shows
macrco shots of damaged parts (mechanical engineering student)
indoor/outdoor shots for autions
family events

About theonly features I know I really want are:
ability to use batteries that I can getjustabout anywhere
manual focus

The budget is under $350 US. I have in the past had good results with some 4 megapixel cameras (on loan from friends)but am really considering a 5 megapixel camera for my own.

The two I found that fit this criteria are the Canon PowerShot A95 and Fuji FinePix E510.

Any input on these two units or other suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

Of those two, I would prefer the Fuji because: slightly bigger lcd, wider lens (equiv. to 28mm in 35mm film terms) closer macro (1" vs 2"), and only needs two batteries. That, and the fact that my first digicam was a Fuji, and it was flawless. It also doesn't hurt that the Fuji is around $40-$50 less.....
