Hi, I am having so much trouble deciding between these two cameras, and I was wondering if you guys could give me your insight on which would be better. I want a light camera, but I also want nice quality pics, and am not sure if the casio will be able to do that.....

Well, for starting you should compare Casio with Canon SD300 (Ixus 40) or wait for SD400 (Ixus 50) or whatever they will call the 5 MP ultra compact camera.

I am not saying that S500 is much larger but it is larger and heavier. 185 g compared with 130 g at Casio.

There is also the Casio Z55 (as opposed to the Z50), which costs a bit more but has larger LCD. Anyway...

The Canon S500 likely produces less noise than the Casios (because Canon has a larger sensor). So I would guess that the S500 has better pics... it also has better video mode...BUT...

The problem with the S500 is that the LCD is too small If you are getting an ultra-compact, the LCD matters a lot. The 1.5" LCD is just way too small IMO. The Casio LCD has lower resolution so it looks bad but at least it's bigger.

So I don't know... I would avoid the S500 for now, if you cant. It's a better camera but its LCD is too small...
