I have a C4 so my comments will be biased for it.

These two devices are very similar in terms of features. Both are compact size between 150g to 200g in weight. M1 has 1 more megapixel resolution and slightly larger sensor, but the pixel density is the same.

C4 has two advantages that stand out. First, a longer optical zoom with factor of 5.8x. The benefits for a longer zoom lens is obvious. Second, electronic image stabilization for movie mode. EIS smoothes out jerkey motions, usually shakes from unsteady hand from videos. EIS is an inexpensive algorithm to implement, but still effective enough that it is standard feature all DV camcorders except the top of line models.

None of M1's features comes out as a clear-cut better than C4 in my criteria.
