To add to PhilR.'s post--if you do decide to buy the camera online, either stick with a seller he recommended or go to resellerratings.com to check out the seller first. Make sure the seller has plenty of feedback history, and positive, too. There are many crooks out there.

Also, shop separately for accessories (memory cards, batteries, etc.). Oftentimes the places that have the camera the cheapest overcharge you on accessories, so even though you save on shipping you still overpaid (newegg.com would be an exception--if they offer you a good deal (looks decent to me) on the camera, go ahead and order memory there as well as memory is rather cheap on newegg.com.

I am so glad I joined this forum, you have all been so helpful. I finally feel confident in buying a camera and plunging right in. Can't wait to show you my first pictures, you guys will have me shooting like a pro in no time.
