Hi all,

My old point-and-shoot got stolen, and I'm looking into getting a cool new toy. I'm a newbie to photography, but want a camera that I can grow into.

Yesterday I pulled the trigger, and bought a Minolta Z3 from staples for $280-$50 rebate.

Now though, I've been reading some more reviews and am a little worried about the Z3's build quality (and also the quality of the photos).

Would the Fuji 5100 be a better choice? It costs pretty much the same thing.

Please advise

Thanks very much,

Each of them has their good points and their bad. It's easy to get people to tell you that one is better than the other, but in real life I think that you would hard-pressed to be able to tell the difference in a 5x7 or 8x10 print. IMO, at this level, the decision would be dependant on whether or not you need image stabilzation. If you do, then the decision is easily made....

p.s., if it's new, that seems to be a good price on the Z3.
