My wife is having a baby very very soon and I need to buy a new digital camera to capture this special event. The two cameras I am looking at are:

Canon Powershot A95, 5mp, Price £177.42 inc VAT
Nikon CoolPix 5600, 5mp, Price £144.52 inc VAT

Both seem to get good reviews in the press and forums, so you have any experience of these cameras, or if you're a digicam pro I would appreciate your advice and comments.

Which one would you buy!!!!

Prices have been taken from eBuyer.com.

Thanks in advance.

You can't go wrong with either camera. IMO it just boils down to whether or not you need manual exposure controls. Decide that, and you know your course...

Ihave considered the both Cameras and I have concluded that the Canon offers greater flexibility at a great price.

Thanks for your feedback PhilR.

For anyone else considering these cameras I found this comparison listing useful…

Hi Digiwatcher,

I'm from over the water in Fife and have bought an A95 3 weeks ago. You won't be disappointed. Great quality shots.

Not sure if you've bought your camera yet, but I was going to go to ebuyer too, until I read reseller ratings on the following link:

http://http://www.resellerratings.com/seller8813.html

Didn't get very good feedback!

Comet sell the same camera, now at £185.03. I know there are two stores in EH. If you go there, you have somewhere to go if it goes wrong.

All the very best with the impending fatherhood!

Slainte,
