I'm looking at getting a 5megapixel ultra compact digital camera. I've come down to the decision of the Canon SD400 (IXUS 50) or the Pentax Optio S5z.

I'm after any feedback that I can get on either camera and which one is the best one to get.

Great minds think alike. Those are probably my two frontrunners right now.

Leaning towards the Pentax as it has a few more scene modes than the Canon. Particularly sport and snow modes as I will be taking it skiing quite a bit. Also it has full LCD menus vs. Canon's bottom of screen icons - easier access.

Not to take anything away from the Canon, especially since I am still using my trusty S100 (the original Dig. Elph) and have had zero complaints in nearly five years.

Would like to see an S5Z review or two before I commit though. The SD400 has had very good reviews...
