and 1st child just 4 weeks away.....

So I think the time is right to go for a digicam to record all those "1sts" , including some motion footage. I'm afairlycapable photographer. Own 2 great 35mm cameras (SLR & compact) that have never let me down. Reading this forum just sends me into a cold sweat. Broken LCDs, errors, blurry shots.....

Comparing features and prices I'venarrowed down to 2 cameras:

Sony DSCW5 / Canon SD300 (both are directly in my pricerange)

I realise the W5 is more comparable to Canon A series but to be honest, they feel a bit cheapand come equipped with bugger all (eg no batteries/charger).

Reviews are good for both BUT I seem to have picked 2 cameras which attract a world of horror stories.

Is it worth waiting for an updated A series (and capture baby shots on 35mm)?

Am I just expecting too much buying a compact digital camera and getting reliability?

Or do i just have bad taste...

PS: I am in Australia
