Has anyone figured out what the real difference is between each succeeding model, what each new model gains and gives up in the process???...we hear that six months in "digital camera land" may be a lifetime in technology (similar to computers) and so each new model may take advantage of newer/upgraded/modern technology...having said that, is the DS-to-DL-to-DS2 a series of upgrades, or are the DL and DS2 versions cheaper and de-contented versions of the DS???...thoughts??

The DL has some improvements but is primarily a lower content model to sell cheaper. The DS2 is an improved version of the DS. One of the biggest differences in the DL is that it only has a penta-mirror rather than a proper prism (like the other two), while the DS2 promises an even better viewfinder than the DS (higher magnification, less of the tunnel vision effect).
