I want a camera (at least 5 megapixel, with more than 3X optical zoom) I can use to photograph birds at my feeder for instance. They won't come if I'm on the deck, so I'd like remote capability and wireless would be best.

I also want to take my camera on trips and be able to use standard batteries.

I'd like to be able to take decent video too.

And I want something small enough to put in my purse. My current camera is a Canon PowerShot S30 (3 megapixel, 3x optical zoom). Pictures are great, but it doesn't have the other features I want.

I love the new Kodak V570, for its size, shooting capacity and price, but it has proprietary battery and no remote.

Besides birds I photograph people, pets, and scenery, including closeups of flowers. I hope to visit Europe someday and want to photograph everything.

I love enlarging photos and giving them as gifts.

And I'd like to spend under $500. I'm planning a trip to New Mexico in mid-April and would love to have my new camera by then. HELP! Thanks.
