"What puzzles me is that consumer reviews of Fuji 5200 complain about its low-light performance, even though it has the biggest CCD array."

Consumer reviews? Like the guy on another site who took "comparison" photos with both the S5200 and the Canon 610? That was a great comparison...takes a shot with one camera set at ISO 1600 (even though the camera was giving out of focus warnings and blur warnings), than takes the same shot with another camera set at ISO 100 (probably on a tripod, with a cable release), just to prove the first camera was "rubbish"?

Don't put too much faith in consumer reviews...

I've decided to buy the S9000, because I've seen several hundred pictures in the last weeks and the image quality is quite good if you can handle the cam. The performance in low light isn't that bad (if you can believe the reviews...).
