Mother of five kids - digital camera stolen while trick-or-treating in BROAD DAYLIGHT (grrr!)
Now looking for an ultra-compact digital...WITH A VIEWFINDER (take too many photos in bright sunshine)...I already have two 512 MB SD cards...
I would rather have something that takes AA batteries but I know I will have to compromise if I want something real small...
Steve seems to favor the Canon Elph Series from what I have read. Are they the only quality ultra compacts with viewfinders? Sony is out since the memory cards are different from those I already have...
Thanks in advance for your help!

Take a look at the Casio Z-120, it seems pretty near your specifications.
