Decidingbetween these 2 cameras. Looking at getting one in the next week or so.Obviously the D50 is cheaper but the D70s has extra iso settings and a faster fps setting(3 compared to 2.5).

I will be using the camera for a variety of things, from portrait(eg my best friends wedding in a weeks time) as well as landscape shots, wildlife and some night/low light shots.

Question is, is there a concernable difference between these 2 cameras, is it worth the difference in price.

Some reviews I've read say the D50 is better than the D70s and other reviews state the opposite.

I'm not hugely experienced with photography(in fact, one of the above cameras will be my first slr type camera). Does the fps/diff in ISO settings make a big difference.

I'm looking for flexibilty in a camera and I plan on owning it for a long time. I know in the end, lenses are what make the difference but which of the 2 will provide for me better as my skills increase.

I have always thought that you get what you pay for so by definition, the D70s must be better than the D50 - is this the case?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

I think we have been through this before. The D-50 is your better bet. I sold my D-70 when I bought my D-50. I conduct Digital Camera Workshops all over the world, so I not lacking of experience or knowledge.

The real glitch is that with you never having owned a SLR or DSLR before, you are most probably not going to master it in time for your friend's wedding.
