Hi all!

Can someone please recommend me a camera for taking ID photographs of people's faces? It needs the following requirements:
  • As cheap as reasonably possible [/*]
  • Hi resolution not necessary - but needs to be higher quality than a webcam. A good quality 640 x 480 resolution is enough [/*]
  • Needs to be very easy to install [/*]
  • Needs to be able to be operated wholly through a PC - ie the user can preview the picture on the screen, and takes the photo from the PC software [/*]
  • The software must be easily integrated with a web application (eg the user clicks an "Add Photo" button on the web application, and the camera software automatically loads, takes the photo, and returns the photo ot the web application) [/*]
  • Preferably has a kind of "boom" type accessory (not dynamite :-P) - a rod of some description that holds the camera at one end and attaches to a wall at the other, which allows the camera to be positioned and aimed but not removed[/*]
Thank you very much in advance for your time and advice!

You could use a simple, dependable, inexpensive camera such as the Kodak Z760 mounted on a tripod with a fixed, in place background. However, please keep in mind that there are also system cameras specifically designed for producing ID badges.
