Hi Everyone:

I am considering a new wide carriage Canon, but which one should I get?

My primary concern is to make prepress proofs. Secondary, to make prints for sale retail. Image stability is a concern in the second part.

The i9950 might suffice only if it could be driven with a Postscript RIP with full ICC workflow support. So far I have not found one; anyone know of one?
It seems that this level of printer from Canon is not common to have interest from the 3rd party RIP software authors; I think possibly it must be discouraged at Canon so that people have to move up to their "professional" printers.

Yes, the w/6200 would probably suit me. There's RIPs from Canon and others potentially. Here's why I'd rather use the i9950 if I could:
-lower cost
-more options for consumables
-large user groups such as this one where one can turn to for advice when the "official" sources prove inadequate (which they ALWAYS do)

Cheers,
Ron Kelly
