Hello, I'm in the same boat you are; graphic designer looking for a good 13x19 format inkjet printer that's able to print photos and text well in OS X. I'm curious to know whether you ended up getting the Canon i9900 or not? If so, how is it working?

I'm in the same boat as both of you. Have you found a postscript driver and rip that works? Let me know. Did you buy the i9900?

Any luck on a postscript driver for the Canon i9900? iproofsystems say they are working on one for Windows and is talking to Canon about producing it. Is there anyone who has one available now?

As a graphic designer, I really like this printer but don't want to save to postscript every time I print. Any ideas? I really don't want to go back to Epson.

There are a few software Postscript RIPS available. There's a good chance that that at least one will work with the Canon i9900. Here are some, check 'em out:

http://www.proofmaster.net

http://www.posterjet.com

http://www.macroenter.com/shiraz.php

http://www.onyxgfx.com/solutions_ripcenter.html

Theseare targetted at the professional proofers and printers - with prices to match! Expect to pay US$400 or a lot more!

When someone finds a cost-effective, personal solution, PA-LEEEEZ let us know.

What about ghoscript. It's free. Use it with remote print utility, for instance. A driver for Canon i9950/9900 might be in the source (so you may have to recompile the thing if not already done). For sure the A4 versions of some latter Canons are compatible.
