Canon has new firmware for their i9900, don't know what it does but it's got to be there for a reason.

I updated my firmware when it first came out sometime late last year, didn't notice any change in printing.

Maybe someone knows what the upgrade does.

The updated ROM version (1.05) for the i9900 printer does two things:

1. Protects the print head from possible damage when changing ink
tanks.

2. Resolves an issue where, under specific circumstances, noticeable
black lines appear when printing in grayscale.
