Regarding HP and Vivera ink. I use an HP Photosmart D7460 which requires Vivera ink. I also am using Windows XP. When I began using this printer I didn't notice any problems for several months. My husband has a habit of wetting his thumb when he turns pages and he was going through some documents that I had printed and the black ink smeared terribly. This is a disaster for me because I do a lot of greeting card projects. If you tried to prepare documents for work it would also be a disaster. I looked through lots of message boards and found a hint that seems to have solved the problem.
Go to HP Solution Center on your computer, Settings, Printer Settings, Advanced Tab. Under Printer Features go to Dry Time. Click on change. Look to see where yours is set. I moved my setting to the Left (Less Time) by 4 ticks. You may have to play around to find the right drying time for your printer.
Now my black ink is not smearing with a moist finger swipe.
