I would have liked to have taken the duck out in the background but results looked artificial...

Loved the water texture in this one. Blew the whites a bit on the duck

I like the top shot, it was taken at a lower level and is sharper and better exposed.... the bottom one is soft and as you mentioned the whites were hot and the angle is a bit high... keep going back to that place, it looks like a sweet spot for getting pictures.:-)

I found this cove last weekend. A bank covered with reeds and old cattails reflects in the water giving it that gold tone. There's a large snag that I hide behind and with the sun rising behind me the ducks have a hard time making me out. They hear my shutter but don't seem too concerned about it.
