This woodpecker was drinking from my neighbor's evestrough. Anyone know what kind it is?

it's a northern flicker... nice shots! those guys are pretty shy as a rule....

I had to look this one up, because the ones I've seen have a black malat (stripe under eye). The red one here threw me off, but there is a variation of this bird called Red-shafted Northern Flicker, and that's what you have here.
