There's a couple feet of snow in one of thewoods that I visit every now and then. Today I spent a good 3 hours in there - there wasn't much to shoot, until I was 5 minutes from the car and this maledowny woodpeckershowed up. You gotta love Nature... Cheers, Dan

A nice shot. If he had not come you could have posted pictures of snow though. Don't want to totally waste three hours in the woods.

Nice shot Dan. Was the weather overcast? I don't see any hard shadow which makes for very even light and good detail. Have you ever thought of getting a Better Beamer flash extenter? I think I'm going to invest in one for moments just like this. At $40 it's a pretty cheap investment and simple low maintenance piece of equipment.
All the best,
Steve

That is a very nice shot of the Downy....good exposure and detail. Not to mention, it saved the day:-)

Thanks guys. Yes, it was overcast - that's good for this - no hard shadows. I was about 20 feet away from this guy. I'll check out the Beamer extender. Any time spent in the outdoors, even without a shot, still beats working. :-) Cheers, DAn

Great photo fishguy! I'm new to the board and haven't dug through your posts, but do you have any blue jays? I live in Ontario and used to see them all the time, but now a days with west nile its just lucky if I get a glimpse. By the way I like the bird resting on your hat in your avatar, here's one you might like...

That's a clever pic, ahill. Nice job.

Dan, that is a wonderful capture. Would you mind sharing the exif? I'm trying to learn...

Very nice. I have them in my yard, but hard to get a shot of them....They won't let me get close enough....If I leave a window open...they won't land in the tree outside of it. Smart little buggers. I got some shots, but not very sharp

Ahill, this is the only shot of blue jays that I've been able to capture so far. They aren't plentiful around here and they arequite shy. Still, I never give up hope of finding them.

Flip, I'll have to check about the exif. I don't have access to it at this time. Dan
