the last couple of weekends I've been going to a place to photograph bald eagles. Unfortunately most of the time they are 100's of yards away with a close fltby once in a while. Also, many other water birds there too. All with 500mm 1.4X TC some on tripod, some handheld.

1. This cormorant caught quite a few fish and threw them back. A catch and release kind of fisherman

3. This eagle was doing pretty well. Usually they have been about 50% catch rate.

4. This eagle flew into a tree fairly close and perched to eat. Unfortunately for me the weagle was extremely side/backlit.

5. Common merganser female. She was catching fish that looked almost impossible for her to swallow. She would swim around with just her head under water loking for fish. I've never seen that before.

Wowee! Those are some killer shots. I especially like the "weagles". Particularly the fwying weagel.
Great detail on both, even the sidelit perched one.
