I know how you feel. I loved my FZ20. What a great camera. I think these shots are terrific, no matter what the camera.

Thanks guys! Seems like a lot of us have had a pana. I actually thought about the pana dslr, but didn't know anyone who had one.Yesterday on flickr I saw some great egret shots, just beautiful...contacted the person and found out she shot the bird withthe sony alpha in the auto mode...there is some pretty nice gear out there now...Donna

Beautiful photos Donna! I would like your opinion, I am torn between getting a bigger lens for my D-50 of possibly buying a FZ7. Due to budget concerns ( two kids in college). The FZ7 is on sale at Best Buy for less than $300.00 which is about the price of the lower quality lens for the Nikon runs.

Hi Bob, just my opinion: I would buy the fz now and save for a nice zoom. I have had disappointing experiences with budget lens...if that is indeed the case with the nikon, I have looked everywhere for the "deal", you know, great lens, used but in mint conditon for a steal...I haven't found one yet. I just had to bit the bullet and buy decent glass ( I am a accumulating some nice points of my credit card! Make no mistake, I LOVE my 30d and would buy another in a minute, I can't fault it...but the little pana is cheap, long and quite nice with few disappointments, noise being one of them at higher ISOs. But the color, image stablization and the sharp long lens are nice. When I look at pana images next to canon I sometimes think they lack depth, if that makes any sense...I love 'em both! Donna

Thank you Donna! I am thinking the same, once the kids are out of school then I will get the lens I really want for my dslr. Thanks again!
