The top two are Peacock Butterflies, the third one is a Painted Lady.

Yes, Graham, thanks. I'd never seen such a colorful Moth... so I'm not surprised it isn't one! Around where I am, they always sit with the wings up, so it's nice to see the tops of them instead of always looking at the folded up bottoms.

Na, you can find them out and about all the time. At least I do around Boston, Ma.

I hope to post a picture of one I saw while on vacation. Almost 2 inches long and 2.5 inches wide at the end of the wings.

Moths are about all the time, it's just that they navigate by using the sun, so in the day time they know where they're going. You see them all at night because all the lights get them so confused they just fly towards them and hope for the best
