I had spent a good 3 hours hiking the hills behind our resort in the south of Spain, looking for raptors. Those that I could see were way toohigh to shoot adequately.

About one block from our hotel, I spotted what looked like akestrel sitting on the railing of a balcony of someone's house. I figured it would bolt as soon asI moved closer so I tried to pre-focus the spot just in front of it where I thought it would gowhen ittook off.Sure enough, when I took afew steps closer, it launched itself off the railing and this photo caught it in mid air, in a totally"stretched out" pose, if you get what I mean. Cheers, Dan

Great shot Dan! I know what you mean. I spend hours running around in the bush looking for hawks for example, and quite often as I'm entering the freeway, I'll see them perched on a light standard checking out traffic.........cheers.......Don

Thanks all.Yes Jim, I do love it when a plan comes together - because it's such an infrequent occurrence! :G

I'll be posting more wildlife from Spain in teh coming weeks (so many photos, so little time...)

Cheers, Dan
