Donna, very nice shots. I do agree the woodpecker is a bit overexposed as others have mentioned. The finch is a nice composition. However, I would remove the branch behind the bird.

Donna, after looking at both pictures, I've come to the conclusion that it's not so much the bird, but, the tree trunk he's on that is too hot and distracting. As for the 2nd being better, I'm not really sure. But, in any case, it's a nice shot of a really pretty bird of which, I don't have anything as nice as yours. And, as others have stated in past threads, you really have improved by leaps and bounds. Keep them coming.
