Went out today to take shots of birds by the marsh, sat down in the grass with the sun shining on me and fell asleep.

Woke up to the sound of the Sandhill Cranes flying by, took a quick shot, then went home after an hour of rest.

You must be very tired after all the hard work at the swamp. Sounds like a very quick capture and those are diffuclult.

Tom, nice shot! I may be heading up to Crex Meadows near Grantsburg, WI this Sunday. That place is great for Sandhill Cranes.

I was just up there two days ago and the cranes were not there in any numbers, but they were just south of Grantsburg off 48 in the farm fields.

The weather is messing them up around here and I looks like the females may be on their nests right now since their activity has slowed down quite a bit. I am going to try to get up to Crex Meadows next week to try for some photos after it warms up a bit, but all I saw two days ago was 5 Swans, some Geese and a few ducks, but it was very cold and windy when I was there.

Mike,

When I was up there at Crex Meadows these Swans were really all I saw and I had to put a 1.4x TC on my 300mm to get the shot they were so far away.
