it was nice again today, so i figured i'd try out the 1.4x converter on my Sigma. i have to say, it was not as good as i'd hoped... very inconsistent. some shots were quite good, others were atrocious. i did manage to catch a few of cormorants over the lake, though... :G the first bird was probably 100 yards away, the second 2 perhaps 10-20 yards closer... 30D, Sigma @ 400mm with 1.4x, 1/500-1/640 @ f6.3 handheld...

They look pretty good to me Rocky. TC's are hit and miss I find. Need lots of light and focus tends to hunt a lot more I find. I think they're designed for f/2.8 lenses more than the slower ones that most of us can only afford.........cheers.......Don

i think you're right... but with an f2.8 400 prime costing as much as a small car, i guess i'll have to just take my chances... :roll:
