Marvellous - the eyes have it!

This is the kind of picture I would have used in my classes when I was still teaching Ornithology - it is a perfect illustration of the eye position in Ospreys (more frontal than inmost birds other than owls). An Ospreys need binocularity to judge size, speed and depth of the fishit isabout to dive on.

Makes you want to run for cover, doesn't it?
