I was just looking at a Sigma 50-500mm before going out this afternoon. I have seen a lot of great shots with lens. At 65 oz / 4 pounds, I am not so sure I want or can swing that baby around all day.

This was handheld with a 70-300 (26oz) VR at 300mm, slight crop on the right side (just sky).

Tv (Shutter Speed)

1/160

Av (Aperture Value)

11.0

Exposure Compensation

+1.33333

Thanks for looking
Jeff

Instead of buying the 500, you could get a 1.4tc. Your aperture speed would be a little slower and a little short focal length, but if you have lots of light, it would probably work just fine. Maybe the 170-500 Sigma would be better. It's lighter than the Bigma, and is supposed to be on par for IQ from what I've read. By the way, Nice BIF shot..cheers....Don
