Green Heron

Spotted this little guy landing about 100 yards away, first one I say this summer. From past experience I new I was going to be difficult getting much closer, specially without any cover. Inching my way closer I got within 8 feet to capture this image.

You have to get lucky sometimes.

Thanks for looking
Jeff

Wow! Going from 100 yards to eight feet without spooking him, or him just deciding to go elsewhere on his own, is pretty impressive. And the result is worth the effort. Outstanding shot.

what he said!... excellent shot, and apparently some pretty good "inching" skills as well! :Gi've only seen one of these yet this year, and he was in flght, being run off by some RWBBs. i got a shot of him, but it was too dark, and he was too far away to keep it...

Thanks for the kind words. :-)

Spotted a few today, nothing close enough to even try taking a shot.

There is always tomorrow.
