I think I may have finely figured out how to expose properly for the bird without blowing out the sky. No PP other than resizing.

I used f/11

Nice one, Jeff. It's indeed an art in obtaining the right exposure in such an instance.

Nicely done. You could also use spot metering if it's difficult getting a proper exposure. That could work too......cheers.......Don
