I stopped at my favourite slough on the way to work yesterday and saw this Killdeer with three chicks. The parents looked quite stressed soI kept my distance - that's why the tiny chicks are a bit blurry. I knew it was time to leave when one tried to distract me with the broken wing trick.

great series. i've heard and read of the broken wing bait technique but i've never seen a pic of it in action. very nice capture. the baby is very cute too.
