Did some hummer shots this weekend Jul 22. I had a chance to going really close and I was using a 135mm2.8 lens only.

Large file warning for this one

Hung,

Thanks for looking. Not even remotely your equal at all.

I know what you mean. It is technically more challenging to have it locked on away from the feeder.

Feeder or no feeder, I like this one which is the larger version of second last one above

I am not exactly like a typical wildlife shooter. Pentax still has not had the magical predictive lock-on focusing yet. Hope the newer DA* zoom and K10D (2) may reach it. But I doubt if Canon/Nikon will stand still though.

I could not use my manual focus 300mmF4 obviously. So my typical approach is to try the impossible with an autofocus 135mm2.8. And I found a way real close to the feeder. Ok. So Pentax fastest AF lens FA135mm is fast. It only hunts once before lock-on after one second. And you know with Hummer that I will be shooting air/space only - one second is one second too long.
So I did manual again with FA135mm.
We Pentaxans are diehard birdie shooters.
