For sure you can hear them very well, also at really long distances.They sound like when you blow air in the open end of a bottle

I´ve seen 221 species out of 300 breeding ones in Sweden

The great Bittern is known for it´s ability to hide. He then stands with neck / throat / head straight up and can be extremely hard to discover

wow. that took me awhile to find him. very good camoflauge. he's at the bottom a little to the right side from the middle. could you provide a more zoomed in pic so i can see more details. nice capture.

Hrm. So is there a bittern in this image? That's the only thing that I thought might look like a bittern. I was just guessing.
