1) Mallard

2) Great Egret

3) Barn swallows. I consider swallows in general to be one of the toughest birds to get a good bif shot of. They are just so erratic in their flight paths, not to mention fast and tiny. One tip to shooting them is to find a bunch that are flying around a pond chasing bugs in the late afternoon. They will tend to fly low over the surface of the water. This at least keeps them semi level in their flight path instead of diving, climbing or banking all over the place.

thanks for looking and commenting

Hung,

I like them all particularly the Egret shot. With white on white feather , it is very difficult to get the contrast and texture. I trust the weather is perfect in California this time of the yr.

thanks daniel. photographing white feathered birds is always a challenge. i have the tendency to overexpose and blow highlights. this is especially true in bright daylight conditions. this shot however was taken right before sunset. that side of the creekbed was already in shadows, so my highlights were well protected. there was a little golden light reflecting off of the water which helped to illuminate the undersurface of the egret. the dark background helped to bring contrast and detail to the feathers of the wing.

as far as the weather here in socal, i have no complaints. :G
