I have been trying to get a photo on one of these for the last week. I can hear them calling all day long but they are always too high in the pine trees to get a decent shot. They are common on my property along with another species of Woodpecker but I have yet to get an opportunity at the other one.

Anyway.....I had to crop these two photo's to be able to get some detail on the birds.A bit of shake can be detected in the photo's.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong on the name of this species of Woodpecker. I'm learning the names as I go common to my area and according to my search it is a Northern Flicker (yellow shafted).

Thank you for looking.

Duane

I believe you've got the ID right, Duane. Nice shots.
