Well I couldn't resist the exchange rates and picked up a 500 F4 and had it shipped to Canada. My first shots were disappointing but I had better success today. Here are a few from the feeders and a couple from a pond.

Thanks for looking

Jim

Thank you for being persistent with the new lens...great shots and great detail. I like the lighting on the last photo.

Very nice shotsJim. Congrats on the Lens purchase. I rented the 500mm F4 once, It was a beast and also had difficulty in getting good shots at first. The most important part of the 500mm F4 setup was getting a beefy tripod and ballhead to support that lens. If you don't, you'll have difficulty in producing consistently good shots.

Looking forward to seeing your next series!

Thanks everyone for the comments. It's going to take a while to get used to the set up but I'm up for the challenge.

I forgot to mention that the lens is being supported by the Gitzo 3530 LSV with a Wimberly tripod head

Here are a couple of more from today.

Cheers

Jim
